Wild flowers in hues of blues and yellow are still in bloom. A mountain jay escorts us along the trail and then darts away to a nearby cedar to watch from a distance. We are lucky to spot six mule deer bedded down in the protection of a shaded ravine for an afternoon nap. Scampering in a zigzagging pattern, a red fox makes his way up the side of the bluff. Tall summer prairie grasses gently blow in the breeze, creating waves in the sea of green.
The silence is all encompassing. Nice!
